Synthesia: Designing at the speed of enterprise
Synthesia is an AI video platform used by Fortune 500 companies to create training, onboarding, and communications content at scale. As the embedded designer in the European Solutions team, my role spans brand interpretation, creative production, customer enablement, and product feedback operating more like a Creative Strategist than a traditional digital designer.
Since February 2024 I've delivered over 500 pieces of work across branded templates, pre-sales videos, pilot templates, design enablement sessions, and custom use cases for customers including AstraZeneca, Merck, SAP, UPM, Intel, PHOENIX Pharma, and Boeing.

Challenge
The role carries an unusual amount of scope under a single job title. On any given day I might be interpreting a new enterprise brand from scratch, running a customer call to understand their use cases and brand guidelines, producing a pre-sales video to accelerate a deal, providing structured product feedback to the engineering team, and onboarding a newer designer joining the growing team.
The pre-sales work is particularly fast paced briefs arrive with short turnaround expectations, and the quality bar is Fortune 100. There's no room for templates that feel generic. Each piece of work needs to feel like it came from the customer's own design team.
At the same time, most Synthesia users are non-designers. That means the branded templates we create aren't just creative outputs they're tools that other people use to produce content independently. Usability, grid systems, and scalability are as important as visual craft.

Branded templates
Every enterprise customer arrives with brand guidelines sometimes a one-pager, sometimes a 60-page document. I run collaborative sessions with customers to understand their brand, their use cases, and how their teams will actually use the templates day to day. From there I build grid systems and design frameworks that non-designers can use confidently without breaking the brand.
Some brands have highly specific motion guidelines that push up against the limits of what Synthesia's editor can achieve natively. In those cases I find ways to push the product further combining studio capabilities with external tools where needed to get closer to what the brand actually requires. That problem-solving is one of the most interesting parts of the work.

Pre-sales
Design plays a direct role in commercial outcomes at Synthesia. A well-made pre-sales video that shows a decision-maker exactly what the product could look like in their world in their brand, with their use case changes the conversation. My work has contributed to significant enterprise deals across the team.

Product Feedback
As a power user living in Synthesia Studio every single day, I notice things that most people miss. I've contributed regular product feedback through internal channels, flagged UX issues before they reached customers, and fed enterprise customer insight directly back to product and engineering teams. The product team treats the solutions design team as a primary source of real-world usage data and I've taken that responsibility seriously.

Impact
Over 500 deliverables since February 2024. Enterprise customers across three continents. A role that expanded well beyond its original brief touching brand, strategy, product feedback, and customer enablement under a single job title.
When I joined, the solutions design team was small. It's since grown significantly, with multiple new designers hired across the function. That growth brought mentoring responsibilities onboarding new joiners, sharing playbooks, running design critique sessions, and helping raise the quality bar across the team. The fact that the team needed to grow is itself a signal of what the work proved was possible.
